 English Champ EC Third Series VOCAB : 101 to 150 

(All words are Verbs) 

         

       Basically ये WORDS  verbs (क्रियाएँ : ACTIONS  ) हैं , , जो  हम  अपनी  
         Daily Routine  में use करते हैं। 

              नीचे दिए हुए 50 BASIC WORDS असल में   VOCAB  + CONNECTOR   
           का COMBINATION है। 

     जहाँ पर  STAR  *  का sign है उस word (Verb ) के बाद कोई Connector USE नहीं  होता। 

   जहाँ   sb  लिखा है ,,,,वहां  sb  का use  Human Being (इंसान ) के लिए USE हो रहा है। 

    जहाँ  sth   लिखा है ,,,वहां  sth  का use  Non-Human (Object : चीजों ) के लिए use हो रहा है। 

    ये सारी  Abbreviations ( SHORT FORMS) इसलिए use करके बताई जा रही हैं, कि  किसी भी

    WORD का knowledge होने से ही सिर्फ सही sentence  नहीं बनाया जा सकता ,,बल्कि हमे उसे

     कैसे CONNECTORS के साथ sentence  बनाते हुए fit  करना है ,,,पता होना चाहिए। 

       
       101.    SURVIVE  (v) ---  stay alive,  live on  

        ( जीना  , जीवित रहना, बचा रहना.  ) 

         EX – Man can’t survive without water

            102. REDUCE (v) ---  decrease, lessen, diminish .  

          (कम हो जाना , घाट जाना )

         EX – Pollution always reduces oxygen

         103.   SUBSIDIZE (v) --- to support financially in the form of discount, fund sb . 

         (वित्तीय छूट देना )

         EX – Govt. always tries to subsidize household items for poor section of the society

        104.   AMEND (v) --- make changes in existing one, make improvements

         सुधर करना , संशोधन करना 

.        EX – Govt . often amends the laws in order to benefit its own members

        105.  INTIMATE (v) --- to suggest or hint, indicate.

          सूचना देना , सूचित करना , इशारा देना 

          EX – If you don’t come tomorrow, just intimate me by either sms or miss call

              106. SPECULATE (v) --  to form an opinion about sth without knowing facts or details

         अनुमान लगाना , विचार करना , मत बनाना बिना सच जाने 

    EX – People often speculate about share market

           107. ELIMINATE (v) – to remove or to get rid of sth/sb, abolish.

          हटा देना , रद्द कर देना 

         EX --  We need a strong Lokpal to eliminate corruption from India.

         108.   EXPAND (v) – to become greater in size. 

          फैलना, फैलाना , विस्तार करना 

          EX – Businessman is that person who always tries to expand his business.  EXPANSION (n)

         109.   BOW (v) – to move your head or half part of the body as a sign of respect , stoop, bend over              सर झुकना , झुक जाना , नमस्कार करने के लिए झुकना               

          USAGE – bow to sb/ before sb. EX – I can never bow before this injustice.

        110.   PERSIST (v) – to continue to do sth despite difficulties or oppositions, PERSERVE,CONTINUE. 

           निरंतर लगे रहना कठिनाइयों के बावजूद भी       USAGE – in doing sth, in sth  . 

           EX --  Anna Hazare always persists in bringing people together against corruption.

111. Admonish * sb for sth /for doing sth :

Scolding sb very badly (किसी को बुरी तरह से डांटना ) 

 My mother often admonishes me for small mistakes.

112 . Allege * sb  : To blame someone (officially) 

(किसी पर कानूनन आरोप लगाना )                

 Social activists often allege politicians for misusing public fund.

113.  Acclimatize to sth :  Become habitual of something

 किसी  situtation  के अनुसार अपने को ढाल लेना 

 Girls acclimatize to any situation faster than boys

114 .  Accomplish *sth :        To succeed in doing or completing  sth /

 to achieve completely (हासिल कर लेना पूरी तरह से )

115.  Accuse sb of doing sth     :  

 To say that sb is wrong or has done something wrong/Blame sb   

किसी पर आरोप लगाना की उसने कुछ गलत किया है                                        

Our teachers always accuse students of bunking classes.

116. Acquaint sb/yourself with sth  : 

To make sb /yourself familiar with or aware of sth  परिचित होना किसी से                       

A trainee always acquaints himself with the processes of machine 
before working on the machine

117. Adhere to sth   ==       To stick firmly to sth = जुड़ जाना , पालन करना                 

v Our principal is very strict, she always adhere to rules and regulations

118 . Agitate for sth/against sth      == To argue strongly for sth  you want 
especially for changes in a law or in social conditions etc 
विरोध करना बदलाव के लिए                           

Anna hazare often agitates against the ill-formed govt. policies.

119.  Aid sb  to do sth  == To help sb in doing sth /to do sth / = 
सहायता देना या सहायक बनना कुछ करने में 

 assist sb /sth (in sth / in doing sth                                  

In cases of politicians, police often assist /aid them to escape from law.
120.  Alleviate sth/ease sth 
make something less severe (in terms of pains, suffering)  = 
किसी के प्रभाव को काम करना  जैसे दर्द

121. Amuse sb :  To make sb laugh or smile : किसी को हँसाना या मनोरंजन करना

122.  Annihilate sb : To destroy sb / sth completely  :       
               किसी को पूरी तरह से हरा देना या तबाह कर देना

123.Baffle sb : To confuse sb completely :  
                     किसी को पूरी तरह से confuse कर देना

124. Banish:  An order for leaving a place ; 
                       कोई जगह छोड़ने के  लिए कहना  / वनवास देना                      

 Raja dashrath banished lord rana for 14 years (past)

125. Banter with sb:  Friendly remark and joke with sb : 
                                  हंसी दिल्लगी करना                            

Our geography teacher is very funny. She often banters with all teachers

126. Beautify sb/ sth with sth :  To make sb/sth more beautiful : 
                            किसी वस्तु  या व्यक्ति को और सुन्दर बनाना                            

At the time of marriage, jewellery and costume beautify the bride

   127.Beget sth/sb :  To accelerate (increase) sth (like process or quality).........
             किसी प्रक्रिया को बढ़ाना या जन्म देना

       किसी के कार्य को कम value देना और उसको इसका एहसास दिलाना

                      चढ़ना बस , जहाज या plane पर

133. Boost sth : To make something better or successful 
                     किसी को पहले से और बेहतर - सफल बनाना                              

    Wherever my father supports me it really boosts my confidence

134.Brawl     :  Public area मे लड़ाई झगड़ा करना 
 To take part in a noisy & violent fight especially in a public area 
        He always brawls in the street after drinking

135. Captivate sb : Synonym = Enchant sb : 
       किसी का ध्यान अपनी तरफ खीचना attractive और interesting होकर 
To keep sb’s attention being attractive, interesting etc

135. Capture sb :   किसी को बंधी बना लेना 
To catch a person or an animal & keep them as a prisoner            
Terrorists often capture innocent civilians for meeting their demands

 136. Castigate sb for sth : Rebuke ,censure = 
                      To criticize sb very severely esp. in a public area                                       

         किसी की बुरी तरह से बुराई करना या लताड़ना 
My father rarely castigates me & my brother for mistakes
